The Role: Area Export Manager
As the Export Area Manager, you will play a critical role in growing market share across designated export territories. Your mission will be to drive sales, retain key clients, and identify new cross-border opportunities for the business. This is a strategic, customer-facing role where your ability to manage accounts, drive new business, and collaborate with internal teams will directly impact revenue growth and customer retention.
Key Responsibilities
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in sales, exports, or business development in the automotive or manufacturing sector
- Drive and achieve export sales targets by developing action plans aligned with company strategy
- Identify new business opportunities and prepare compelling business cases for potential clients
- Manage customer accounts, build strong relationships, and ensure high retention through regular visits and performance reviews
- Monitor customer buying patterns and support forecasting to optimise stock management
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure effective debt collection and risk management
- Oversee export documentation, credit applications, permits, and reporting accuracy
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, export regulations, and audit requirements
- Liaise with warehousing and logistics to ensure timeous order fulfilment
- Monitor and manage stakeholder expectations internally and externally
- Support budgeting processes and cost-saving initiatives within your region
About You
- 5+ years' experience in a sales/export/account management role, preferably in automotive, battery, or manufacturing sectors
- Proven cross-border sales experience into Southern African markets
- Strong understanding of export documentation, credit terms, and customer account management
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing reporting and administrative tasks
- Commercially savvy with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build long-term stakeholder relationships
- Proactive, target-driven, and able to operate both strategically and hands-on
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel regionally
